in march 0f 2017, wisconsin distributors purchased river city distributing of watertown, wi. while this added 4 counties with our anheuser-busch portfolio, this also brought on board over 50 new suppliers in our entire 30+ county footprint.
as with any merger, there are redundancies and some integration challenges. I was challenged to only add one FTE to my team, instead of the 2.5 fte. with the addition of so many suppliers and countless more brands, i had been exploring building a software solution using variable data printing engine to automate some mundane and tedious print tasks.
with an accelerated timeline to integrate the two companies, i had found an existing solution in variable data printing in tagify.com. we were able to leverage the power of this software to ease the personnel resource change.
shortly after deploying tagify, i was able to further increase efficiency through the use of hotfolders solution from efi. this eliminated around 20 seconds of clicking all of the necessary print dialogue boxes, each time a designer needed to print. printing well over 300 projects per day, this saved nearly 2 hours / day in idle time.
